In July, UCSB implemented a new financial system, Oracle Financials Cloud (OFC), which contains a module to manage all extramurally sponsored research. Unfortunately, the transition to this system created a considerable backlog in setting up the accounting for new research grants and awards. 

While some delay was anticipated due to the postponed setup of June awards, the resulting backlog is taking additional time to address. We recognize some faculty may be impacted by this delay and understand the urgency to begin work on recently awarded projects and ensure research continuity while accounts are finalized. Based on the current analysis of the data, we anticipate that the backlog will be resolved by mid-September. 

If an award is time-sensitive and requires prioritization, please work with your Research Financial Analyst (RFA) to initiate a prioritization request. Prioritized requests may take 5 business days to process. 

If you need assistance identifying a temporary funding option, please work with your department's Research Financial Analyst. We have provided business officers and RFAs with guidance on this procedure. Please reference this list to identify the RFA for your area.
