Effective July 1, 2026, we have implemented the first phase of the Account Reconfiguration effort in UCPath. This update improves how academic payroll earnings are mapped to campus financial accounts.

This initial phase applies only to academic employee payroll earnings. Staff payroll earnings are not changing at this time and will continue to post to 501001 – Non-Academic Salaries and Wages.

What’s Changing?

Previously, all academic payroll earnings were posted to a single account (500001 – Academic Salaries and Wages). This resulted in additional manual effort to obtain detailed reporting on academic payroll expenses.

UCPath has now been reconfigured to assign these earnings to more specific accounts based on employee class, job code, and earn codes. This will help identify whether earnings post to additional compensation lines (i.e., stipends, overtime) or are categorized into specific groups (i.e., Senate Faculty, Post Docs, Deans).

This change is intended to:

  • Improve payroll expense reporting
  • Provide clearer account-level detail
  • Reduce manual effort after payroll processing
  • Support easier review and analysis of academic payroll costs
  • Align specific budgeted categories/accounts to expenses
  • Improve budget vs. actuals tracking based on expenditure category (for PGM projects)

Managers and department stakeholders may see changes to financial activity in FinHub reports and dashboards where academic payroll earnings are displayed by account.
